The Sun Prince
An original cyanotype (sunprint) of my original obsessive line drawing from a limited edition of 11 Prussian blue prints includes a white archival mat.
My complex, improvised ink drawing is a happy tangle of lines and patterns, abstracted architectural and industrial elements... and a moon wearing a crown.
I created these unusual, elegant prints using a simple process from the earliest days of photography, with readily-available, non-toxic supplies and some bright afternoon sunlight.
It's got lots to look at. I love the crisp white lines against the intense, deep blue color, and because each print was exposed one at a time they're all different.
I intentionally included the shadows left by the clips (and sometimes my fingers) where I held the light-sensitive paper up to the sun.
These beautiful, bold, original photograms are signed and numbered in white archival ink. The rich hue will last longer if kept away from direct light, however faded cyanotypes may be restored by spending some time in the dark.
