My precise yet loose original drawing is a portrait of a classic Hollywood Hills bungalow in black Archival Pigment ink on bright white cardstock.
I didn't sketch in pencil first, I simply pondered my subject for a bit... then headed straight for the ink and let the drawing take its course. It's improvised but well-observed and totally one of a kind.
I love these wee, shimmed-up hillside cottages, so Chandler style Los Angeles with the requisite roof tiles and unabashedly cockamamie toy appearance. And I love drawing crisp, bold, lines and expressing the balance between lightness and weight in a building like this.
