My bold, loose original line drawing: a stylized, confident city scene illustration of buildings, fences, and telephone poles in crisp black over textured teal blue-green on a reclaimed wood panel, 8x10".
There's a construction site in our neighborhood and it's a wildly tangled yet structured mass of equipment and wires and cement blocks and rebar and scaffolding and heavy machinery and lunch coolers and dust and the giant studded tires of the big trucks who beep their backings-up incessantly each morning and, come evening, there's a security guard who sits outside his trailer under the guttering light of tiki torches and listens to Jimmy Buffett.
I created this piece by covering the wood panel with cool gray artist's acrylic paint, then thickly textured swaths of intense teal blue-green with hints of clean white and deep red. Then I made this quick, spontaneous but carefully observed line drawing. This original artwork is one-of-a-kind and will not be made available as a print.
It's a perfect mix of painterly color and graphic illustration on a cradled art board, lightly sealed with UV protective varnish. It can stand upright on a shelf or hang flush against the wall, and the edges are finished so it needs no framing.
The panel was custom made for me out of reclaimed cedar by andrewsreclaimed.etsy.com.
Panel Size: 8 x 10 x 1" deep (20.3 x 25.4 x 2.5 cm deep)
